Reasons for Dropping the "A" Bomb
The United States entered World War Two in 1941 after the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor. In 1945 the United States were fighting the Japanese at Iwo Jima and Okinawa. The United States appeared victorious and this insured that the U.S. was able to have striking distances from the air.
The U.S. were very eager to end the War. President Harry Truman had many strategies, one of which was to drop an Atomic Bomb on desired cities in Japan. These cities were Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Harry Truman gave permission to drop the bomb on August 3, 1945 and the bomb hit on August 6th.
